We are proud to share that Optimum Air has been named a finalist in the Service Provider of the Year category at the 2025 Ngā Tohu a FMANZ Awards.

Presented annually by the Facilities Management Association of New Zealand (FMANZ), these prestigious awards celebrate excellence in facilities management across Aotearoa, recognising organisations and individuals who deliver outstanding outcomes and actively contribute to the profession’s advancement.

Data-Driven Delivery with Intelligent Maintenance

Optimum Air’s recognition centres on Intelligent Maintenance (IM) - a data-led model introduced in 2024 that brings together live building analytics, predictive diagnostics, and technician insights to improve performance and optimise asset strategies.

At PMG Funds’ 213 Tuam Street site in Christchurch - home to Kiwibank and One NZ - Intelligent Maintenance delivered clear and measurable outcomes, including:

      •     A 5.85% improvement in thermal comfort

      •     76,290 kWh of avoided energy waste

      •     A 20% reduction in unplanned service calls

As one of Optimum Air’s key clients, PMG Funds has embraced a co-designed, data-driven approach to FM, allowing us to deliver smarter, more transparent outcomes that directly support the performance needs of both asset owners and high-profile tenants.

Investing in People and the FM Community

“Being named a finalist for the Ngā Tohu a FMANZ Awards is a proud moment for our entire team,” said Scott Finn, General Manager at Optimum Air. “It validates the work we’ve done to embed intelligent systems into FM delivery, while also investing in our people, apprentices, and professional community.”

In addition to delivering measurable outcomes, Optimum Air is actively involved in industry advancement. We provide HVAC fundamentals training to FM teams, equipping facility managers with the knowledge to better manage building systems. Through our structured apprenticeship programme in partnership with Competenz, we continue to invest in the next generation of HVAC professionals.

A Standout Year for Facilities Management

This year’s awards have seen a record number of high-quality entries, showcasing the strength and maturity of New Zealand’s FM sector. According to Vanessa Powell, Chair of the FMANZ Awards Committee:

“Each year, we’re reminded just how much passion, innovation and dedication exists across the facilities management profession - and this year is no exception. The entries have been nothing short of inspiring, and it’s a privilege to help shine a light on the people and projects that are shaping the future of facilities management in Aotearoa.”

Powell also noted a clear trend toward data-driven excellence in this year’s submissions:

“I’m a data person, and I loved how many nominations included facts, efficiency, cost savings, and growth metrics. Visualising the tangible impact of these teams and individuals was fantastic. This evidence-based storytelling boosts our profession’s credibility and aligns with what FMANZ advocates across government and industry.”

Looking Ahead

The winners of the 2025 Ngā Tohu a FMANZ Awards will be announced at the FMANZ Awards Gala on 24 July 2025, to be held at the Q Theatre in Auckland.

We’re honoured to be recognised alongside other leading organisations and look forward to celebrating with our peers at the Gala. Our sincere thanks go to FMANZ, our dedicated team, and our valued clients for making this possible.
